Center Hill Mustangs- D'Marius Gillespie and God's favor!
D'Marius (Dee) Gillespie...Keep God first in all that you do!
Center Hill High School- Olive Branch, MS 2012/2013 Season
God truly favored my only and beloved son in this past 2012/2013 football season. It was an awesome experience for my family and I as we watched God use him in not only the physical being but spiritual as well. D'Marius is a very meek and humble person. He has a big heart and truly loves the game of football, his coaches and team mates alike. He takes everything to heart and always gives 100% to all that he does. Many of those who come in contact with him often speak of him as a young man with great leadership qualities, integrity, and class.
Before the season began, D'Marius set his goals and posted them on the refrigerator. This was not something he was instructed to do, but was obviously something he was led to do. In our walk with God, we been taught to write down our visions to make them plain. Well in my opinion, I think that is just what Dee was doing. He was speaking those things into existence!!
I remember waking up on Friday mornings (game day) to loud talking coming from Dee's bedroom. After repeatedly hearing this each week, I thought I would go up to see what the noise was all about. As I got closer to his bedroom the noise became clearer. He was listening to a CD of a motivational speaker talking about success and "How bad to you want It". The moral of the speech was that you have to want success just as much as you want o breathe. The words in the message were so touching that I immediately opened the door and asked "who is this speaking and can I take this CD to work to share".
Week after week Dee would begin to place a check mark to show how close he was to accomplishing each goal. By the end of the season he had exceeded most of his goals and becme one of the stat leaders in Mississippi's 5A Division. As he was complimented by family and friends not once did he ever become cocky or arrogant. He has always kept a level head and gave all credit to God for keeping him safe a favoring him and his team throughout the season.
God works in mysterious ways by using His people as vessels to touch the world in a special way. Yes, D'Marius had a great season, but those around him, including myself learned so many valuable lessons as we journeyed with him. The message left in my heart, is that success isn't free, but anyone can have it if they're willing to put in the work and always keep God first!!!
